MISS THORNBERY, TEACHER-LIBRARIAN
 

My name is Sarah Thornbery and I serve as the teacher-librarian at Springboro Jr. High School.  I have been the teacher-librarian at SJHS for 22 years and I love my job! I have a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education with a minor in History from Miami University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership with a focus in School Library Media from Wright State University.  Additionally, I also have a Master in Library and Information Science with a focus on Academic Librarianship (University Libraries) at Kent State University. I hold an Ohio teaching license in the following areas: 

  • PK-12 Library Media

  • PK-12 Computer/Technology

  • Social Studies 7-8

  • Geography 9-12

  • History 9-12


Besides reading, my other hobbies include traveling, exploring technology, playing music, and anything having to do with Disney! My favorite things to read are nonfiction, historical fiction, and fantasy.  I also love spending time with my niece and nephew. 2012 - Library of Distinction Individual School Category Award from the Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA). 

 

2012 - Library Leadership Ohio - Scholarship to attend Library Leadership Ohio, a competitive selection of 35 young leaders in the library field (academic, public, school, & special libraries).

 

2014 - Leadership-in-Action Award for leadership in local, state, and national organizations from OELMA.

 

2015 - Follett School Solutions for an Outstanding School Librarian from OELMA - This award recognizes a licensed school librarian that develops an exemplary school library program, collaborates with classroom teachers, implements technology-integrated instruction, & advocates for school libraries.
